An introduction to CQI standards for the assessment of special processes – #101
Context
Special processes have one key characteristic: the conformity of the finished product cannot always be fully verified by a final inspection. Their control therefore relies on the robustness of the process, the qualification of equipment and personnel, adherence to defined parameters, and rigorous monitoring of operations.
Developed by the AIAG in collaboration with leading automotive manufacturers and equipment suppliers, the CQI guidelines provide a structured approach to the evaluation of special processes. This evaluation enables the identification of risks, the verification of the compliance of implemented practices, the harmonisation of evaluation methods and the strengthening of defect prevention.
Objectives
- To understand the purpose, scope and general principles of the various CQI standards relating to special processes.
- To identify the requirements common to the various CQI standards, in particular those relating to the quality system, storage, equipment, skills and process control.
- To be able to analyse a supplier’s CQI self-assessment, and to identify responses that are inconsistent, insufficiently justified or require further information.
Recommanded for
- Quality managers and engineers;
- Supplier quality managers and SQE/SQA engineers;
- Internal, supplier or second-party auditors;
- Purchasers and technical procurement managers;
- Industrialisation, methods and processes managers;
- Production or site managers;
- Anyone required to review, analyse or challenge a CQI self-assessment carried out by a supplier.
Prerequisites
- No specific prerequisites are required.
- A general understanding of the principles of quality management, industrial processes or supplier relations is, however, recommended.
Specific operating conditions for remote sessions
- Have a PC equipped with a microphone, webcam and, if possible, a headset for greater comfort. Note: To blur or hide the view from behind, background screens are available in Zoom or Teams.
- A good Internet connection, tested before the session.
- Locate in a quiet, isolated area; switch to “not available” status in Teams; close your email access and mute your phone to avoid distraction during the session.
- To avoid off-topic discussions during the session, participants from the same organisation should not be grouped together in the same room, but rather at their own desks. Virtual sub-groups will be set up specifically for the exercises, which will also allow for mixed groups to be created.
- The webcam and microphone must be open during remote qualification/certification exams. It may also be necessary for us to check that you are the only one in the room.
- We ask that you connect at least 5 minutes before the beginning of the session.
Pedagogy
- An introduction to the key elements of the CQI.
- A mix of presentations and exercises.
- Trainees will be introduced to a CQI audit questionnaire and will be able to explain the CQI approach to one or more colleagues.
Evaluation mode
- Knowledge test (MCQ).
Course materials
-
Participant file containing the presentations delivered during the training and the exercise materials.
- Digital training materials are made available to trainees a few days before the start of the training course on our LMS platform.
