CQI-15 – Special Process: Welding Assessment: practice on site – #215
Context
CQI-15 (Welding System Assessment) is a standard developed by the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) for assessing and improving the control of welding processes, particularly in the automotive industry. These processes include resistance welding, arc welding, laser welding and other fusion or solid-state joining techniques.
In accordance with IATF 16949 and specific customer requirements, the CQI-15 applies to all automotive sector suppliers that use welding processes in their manufacturing.
The CQI-15 assessment aims to minimize the risk of failure associated with welding processes and ensure the strength, integrity and reliability of welded joints. It also guarantees compliance with the quality, safety and performance requirements expected by automotive manufacturers.
This standard constitutes a strategy for the continuous improvement of special processes. It provides a structured framework that enables companies to carry out self-assessments in several key areas, including control of welding processes, equipment capability and maintenance, management of critical welding parameters, personnel qualification and competence, and the effectiveness of monitoring and inspection systems.
To ensure that your welding processes meet the requirements of the CQI-15 manual, you need to understand the manual and assess your own welding processes. You should also critically evaluate the self-assessments of your welding suppliers.
An action plan is to be developed to ensure compliance with CQI-15.
Objectives
- Understand the customer specific requirements who require the CQI-15.
- Discover the contents of the CQI-15 manual (self-assessment tables, product audit, etc.).
- Identify the key points of the manual.
- Learn how to use the self-assessment questionnaire from the CQI-15 manual through a self-assessment on field.
- Develop an action plan for implementing the manual.
Recommanded for
- Quality Engineers,
- Process/Manufacturing Engineers or technical experts,
- Internal Auditors,
- Production Supervisors,
- Welding Process Specialists
Prerequisites
- Participant must have CQI-15 handbook 2nd edition standard documentations, as it is not provided during the training
- General awareness of manufacturing or welding processes
Pedagogy
The pedagogical approach is structured around an alternating sequence of theoretical sessions focusing on the CQI-15 requirements and practical application sessions featuring exercises and self-assessment exercises in situ.
Evaluation mode
- Knowledge test (Multi Choice Questions)
Course materials
-
Participant file containing the presentations delivered during the training and the exercise materials.
- Digital training materials are made available to trainees a few days before the start of the training course on our LMS platform.
