First Article Inspection (FAI) & PPAP according to aerospace-defense standards – #790
Context
A First Article Inspection (FAI) and a PPAP must be carried out for all new products/processes and updated when any design or production changes are made, in accordance with the requirements of EN9102 and EN9145 for the APQP/PPAP.
The engine manufacturers’ supply chain has established reference manuals (RM) for the core tools, in particular RM 13102 for the First Article Inspection, and RM 13145 for the APQP and PPAP.
It is in this context that we must be able to produce, update and validate an FAI or a PPAP.
Objectives
- Know the requirements of standard EN9102 for the First Article Inspection (FAI).
- Know how to complete or check an FAI.
- Know the specific requirements of engine manufacturers for the 1st Article review, in accordance with the RM 13102 reference manual.
- To be familiar with the requirements of standard EN9145 for carrying out a PPAP.
- Know the specific requirements of engine manufacturers for the APQP and PPAP, in accordance with the RM 13145 reference manual.
- Know how to complete or check/validate a PPAP.
Recommanded for
- Any person required to understand, carry out or validate a First Article Inspection (FAI) or a PPAP in the Aeronautical sector. Anyone with a product quality, monitoring and/or supplier development mission.
Specific operating conditions for remote sessions
- Have a PC equipped with a microphone, a webcam and, if possible, a headset for greater comfort. Note: wallpapers are available on Zoom or Teams to hide the background.
- Have a good Internet connection, which should be tested before the session.
- Settle down in a quiet, isolated place; set yourself to “unavailable” status on Teams; close your email access, and mute your phone, so as not to be disturbed during the session.
- Participants from the same organisation should not be grouped together in the same room, but each at their own desk.
- The end-of-course knowledge test must be taken with your webcam and microphone turned on. We may need to verify that you are alone in the room.
- Please sign in 5 minutes before the start of the session.
Prerequisites
- Experience in the aerospace industry in product, customer or supplier quality.
Pedagogy
The training method combines presentations and group exercises based on examples or case studies from the aerospace industry. In each case, trainees are invited to take part in role-playing and group work. The trainer advises each trainee on his or her practices.
Evaluation mode
- Knowledge test (MCQ).
Course materials
- Participant file containing the presentations delivered during the training and the exercise materials.
- Digital training materials are made available to trainees a few days before the start of the training course on our LMS platform.
