Context

You have successfully completed the « IATF 16949 – Lead Auditor with AIAG supplier auditor certification » training course and your auditor certificate has expired after 3 years.

You wish to renew your certification for an additional three-year period, in accordance with the latest IATF requirements for audit processes and auditor competence.

The training takes a practical approach to how to use the automotive process approach described in Rules 6 to obtain and maintain IATF recognition in order to improve the robustness of your audit skills and your internal/supplier audit programme.

It also helps users of the IATF 16949 standard to keep abreast of changes in audit practices.

Objectives

  • Understand the requirements for third-party certification (obtaining and maintaining) in accordance with IATF Rules 6 and ISO/IEC 17021-1.
  • Understand the requirements of IATF Rule 6 that can be used, in conjunction with the guidelines of the ISO 19011 audit standard, to improve your internal audit programme and your supplier audit programme.
  • Apply the automotive process approach to plan QMS audits.
  • Apply the automotive process approach to conduct QMS audits at all levels of the organisation: management, process drivers and personnel working in customer-focused and support processes.
  • Evaluate the effective implementation of the requirements of ISO 9001:2015 and IATF 16949:2016.
  • Evaluate the effective implementation of automotive industry core tools and specific customer requirements.
  • Describe the findings and results of the audit.
  • Evaluate the acceptability and effectiveness of corrective actions to address QMS non-conformities.
  • Apply audit maintenance techniques and communication skills in an audit simulation.
  • Prepare for the Lead Auditor and Supplier Auditor recertification examination.

Recommanded for

This training course is intended for those who have already successfully completed AIAG Lead Auditor and/or Supplier Auditor training and wish to renew their auditor certification upon expiry of their 3-year valid certificate.

Prerequisites

Be an AIAG-certified Lead Auditor or Supplier Auditor.

Pedagogy

Exercises in identifying audit trails and simulating audits.

Evaluation mode

A written examination that covers the content of IATF 16949:2016 and the application of audit principles and practices based on IATF 16949:2016. Seventy-five percent of the examination grade is based on questions that require essay responses that test comprehension of the audit process and the application of IATF 16949:2016. The remainder of the examination grade is based on multiple choice, true/false or short-answer questions.

Note: Successful completion of this course/exam does not qualify you to conduct third-party audits.

The final examination assesses the following competency areas (as defined in IATF clause 7.2.3): 7.2.3a, 7.2.3b, 7.2.3c, 7.2.3d, 7.2.3e

Individuals who successfully complete the final examination will receive: an AIAG IATF 16949:2016 Supplier Auditor Certification certificate for first- and second-party assessments.

Day 1

  • Presentation of the certification process according to ISO/IEC 17021-1 and IATF 16949, 6th edition
  • Development and updating of the QMS audit programme
  • The three pillars of audit planning: customer risk, performance trends and process criticality
  • Development of audit plans
  • Preparation of an individual audit
  • Basic understanding of the process approach in the automotive sector: agility, understanding of the current QMS, customer risk and performance orientation, PDCA cycles and the process approach in the automotive sector
  • Conducting the audit at management level
  • Conducting the audit with process drivers

 

Day 2

  • Conducting audit trails in operations and support processes
  • Reporting audit findings and results
  • Evaluating the acceptability of corrective actions
  • Audit simulation exercise
  • Lead auditor and supplier auditor review structure and practical exercises
