Reverse FMEA Process / Reverse FMEA – The Method – #1182
Context
Several manufacturers such as STELLANTIS, RENAULT, FORD, GM… and also some Tier 1 suppliers require their suppliers, as part of their CSR, to implement reverse FMEAs during the production phase in series life.
The reverse FMEA is a complementary tool to the process FMEA, allowing the verification of the application and effectiveness of current prevention and detection measures, as well as the discovery of new failure modes. The ultimate goal is to revise/update your process FMEA and associated documentation to strengthen risk control.

- Identify the advantages and benefits of the approach for your company
- Learn how to prepare and organize a reverse FMEA based on feedback
- Integrate observations from the reverse FMEA into the process FMEA and production documentation
- Be able to apply the method in your organization after the training

Prerequisites
- Having attended a process FMEA training or having practical experience with process FMEA.
- Ideally, familiarity with the AIAG-VDA process FMEA approach.
Specific operating conditions for remote sessions
- Have a PC equipped with a microphone, a webcam and, if possible, a headset for greater comfort. Note: wallpapers are available on Zoom or Teams to hide the background.
- Have a good Internet connection, which should be tested before the session.
- Settle down in a quiet, isolated place; set yourself to « unavailable » status on Teams; close your email access, and mute your phone, so as not to be disturbed during the session.
- Participants from the same organisation should not be grouped together in the same room, but each at their own desk.
- This Quiz must be taken with the webcam and microphone open. We may need to check that you are alone in the room.
- Please sign in 5 minutes before the start of the session.
Pedagogy
The pedagogical approach is based on subgroup activities with exercises and practical application on a case study.
At the end of these activities, each participant defines an action plan for implementation in their company.
Evaluation mode
- Multiple-choice questionnaire (10 questions) in 15 minutes. 60% correct answers expected.
Course materials
- Participant’s file containing the presentations delivered during the training and the exercise materials.
